The world champion Alejandra Rubio and four other bodybuilders died burned today when they could not get out of the car they were traveling in after colliding head-on with a truck, on National Route 34, police and judicial sources reported.
The accident occurred today, in the early afternoon, near the town of Pinto, a rural town in the Aguirre department, located 250 kilometers from the Santiago capital, when the car driven by Rubio collided head-on with a truck, guided by Luis Valdez, 38, with residence in Capital Federal.
Rubio was accompanied by Elías Torres, Guadalupe David, Emanuel Villalba and Daniel Montivero, all bodybuilders from Rosario who came to compete in an Ibero-American tournament in the Santiago capital, organized by Miguel Ger.
As a consequence of the violent impact, the car caught fire and the five occupants of the car died burned, while the truck driver and a companion, who could not yet be identified, suffered serious burns and were admitted to the nearby Añatuya hospital. to the place of the tragic accident.
Since 2013, Rubio chaired the Argentine Association of Fitness and Bodybuilding (AAFF), affiliated with the International Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding (IBFF), in addition to giving seminars and talks on nutrition and specialized training, and held exhibitions at tournaments and events in different parts of the country.
Among the most relevant international titles of the three-time champion of the world of fitness and bodybuilding specialties, who had started at the age of 20 as a dancer, are also the world runners-up in Italy 2005 and Russia 2007 and a third place in Slovenia 2014.
In the area of the accident, road security officers, police and firefighters from the town of Pinto, worked to remove the fatal victims from the car and clear the route, whose traffic remained interrupted for more than three hours.
By order of the justice of the crime on duty, the bodies of the fatal victims were ordered to be transferred and subjected to an autopsy in the judicial morgue of the Añatuya Hospital.
